Thuraya allows you to roam with your handset across nearly one third of the globe; anywhere in Thuraya's coverage area you can call to, and receive a call from, anywhere in the world. Even outside the Thuraya coverage area you will still be able to use your Thuraya phone in GSM mode, through a Thuraya GSM roaming partner.

Thuraya Satellite Phones

The Handset is a small, lightweight and user-friendly design with features familiar with most modern GSM telephones. Unlike other Satellite telephones the antenna is retractable into the body of the telephone offering a smaller package when not in use. It needs line of sight to the sky (variable capability under forest canopy). Thuraya has the facility of High Power Alerting for satellite calls, which means that when the telephone has registered and is then taken inside it, can be alerted to an incoming call, subject to signal strength. The user will then normally have to move outside to accept the call.

INCOMING CALL CHARGES (per min)
Calls to Thuraya phones use the code 00882 16 and are only charged to the calling party
Where a Thuraya call is received over a GSM network a call surcharge of € 0.25 per minute is chargeable to the Thuraya phone account.
PRE PAID CALLS
For prepay the call charges equivalent to the units are approximately 25% higher than post paid, but no monthly line rental is charged.
