Astutechnologies becomes a Trango Broadband Wireless reseller, addressing the West African and Nigerian markets for Wireless Wide Area Networking (WWAN), Security & Surveillance and Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPS). Point to multi-point and point-to-point wireless access solutions are by far the most costs effective and quickest way to reach most customers, whether the market is urban, suburban or rural. Wireless technology enables all types of organisations to easily and effectively establish high speed, secure networks between multiple locations.

Completed installation, testing and commissioning of a C-band VSAT for a business and cyber cafe in Nigeria (Benin City) providing high reliability broadband connectivity. The next phase of the project will involve deploying a wireless network to link up other locations directly with the central business site, and to provide services to other businesses in the city.

Astutechnologies launches a new product line in support of its system integrator customers. Uninterruptible power supplies are now available direct from the far east. The manufacturer is the OEM for brands such as APC, but Astutechnologies now offers the same technology for floor standing UPS, but with the added cost of the re-seller and distributor chain.

Trials of a new vehicle tracking system using RASTRAC equipment are successfully completed in Bahrain with partner Al Jalaf. The new AVL system will be available for beta testing in the UK in Q2 2005, targeted to offer tailored solutions for vehicle tracking and communications requirements using GPRS, rather than catering to mass market AVL and fleet tracking requirements.

Astutechnologies supplies PolarSat spares to well known oil field services company in north Africa. As part of its continuing support for existing PolarSat customers, Astutechnologies was able to supply key parts and spares via UK to assist a large end-user of PolarSat VSAT PlusII equipment. The VSAT network is used in support of oil field service activities.

Astutechnologies extends its contract with AfriConnect Ltd, to assist with the creation, start-up, project management and development of a new Wireless Internet Service Provider (WISP) in Zambia. The WISP will use innovative non-line-of-sight (NLOS) technology to deliver a broadband Internet service in a marketplace currently serviced only with dial-up. “The challenges of introducing a new technology, in an emerging broadband market is an exciting opportunity to bring together project management, marketing and supply chain skills for a valued customer.”, said Simon Hoey, Principal Consultant.

Astutechnologies secures consultancy contract with AfriConnect Ltd based in Cambridge (UK), to provide interim business development and project management, to fill a skills gap in satellite communications and telecoms as AfriConnect Ltd a specialist connectivity provider and ICT consultants to IGO's, NGO's and healthcare organisations in Africa, sought to expand into commercial markets in Ghana, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya.
