Ku-Band IP VSAT

High Bandwidth Internet Connectivity Solution

No Phones Lines Required, No Dial-Up, Always On

Ideal For Broadband Rather Than Mission Critical Applications

VSAT technology represents a cost effective solution for users seeking an independent communications network connecting to the global Internet.

Ku-Band IP VSAT networks offer value-added satellite-based services capable of supporting not only access to the Internet, data, LAN, voice/fax communications, and can provide powerful, dependable private network communications solutions.

The Astutechnologies Ku-Band IP VSAT service operates at Ku-band to minimise costs and provides downlink speed from 128Kbps – 2Mbps, with capped and uncapped usage options and return links from “best endeavours” to 76.8Kbps guaranteed link speed.

Ku-Band IP VSAT is ideal for small office applications of 5 to 15 PC’s dependent on the level of simultaneous Internet usage by each work-station. Each PC on the network must have anti-virus and firewall software installed to prevent problems.

Terminal Description

The Astutechnologies Ku-Band IP VSAT service also uses industry-leading technologies including embedded TCP/IP functions coupled with unique Internet browsing acceleration technologies that provides high performance and an excellent user experience.

The standard Ku-Band IP VSAT system is supplied with a 1W L-Band Block Up Converter (LBUC) and Low Noise Block Down Converter (LNB), to receive and transmit data to the satellite, with a 1.8m dish. This enables basic service provision with return channels up to 76.8Kbps, with guaranteed minimum throughput.

Dish sizes are available from 90cm for small applications, for higher availability applications, or higher guaranteed throughputs a 2.4m antenna may be required.

Project Support

Astutechnologies will manage the whole project to ensure that installation is timely and an Ethernet interface to any existing networks is operational.

Customers will be responsible for obtaining their own VSAT licenses in each country. Astutechnologies can also provide initial assistance and examples of how to apply, and what has been successful for other users.

Maintenance Options

Astutechnologies’s product can also be used to provide a “network in a box” solution with many added security and management features.

It is strongly recommended that a suitable UPS be provided for each SatIP units if no generator supplied/UPS is available at each office.

Support would normally be provided via email, or over a VoIP line, including remote access to the client network over the new satellite link. This support will be proactive in ensuring that the system is working and that all traffic is getting through in timely fashion.
